Abstract
Even though there has been a trend of integrating mobile technology into teaching and learning, little has been known about the key factors to successfully incorporate mobile technology into curricula. This study aimed to find out the factors that influence the teachers’ decisions to adopt mobile technology. At the beginning of the study, EFL teachers in secondary schools were introduced to an in-house language-learning application, named eCard. The teachers were asked to incorporate eCard into their lessons regularly, but they had the freedom to quit using eCard in their classes if they felt uncomfortable teaching through eCard. With the data collected from questionnaires, regular interviews and class observations, this study found that teachers’ ability to incorporate technology in teaching, their technology readiness and the technical support from their schools are crucial factors that drive teachers implementing mobile technology in the classroom.
